How do I know if these are bed bug bites, or something else?

July 17th, 2010
Kyle asked:

I have about 8 bites on the right side of my stomach. They are slightly raised bumps, mostly elongated but varying in size, and with a reddish pink color. However, they don’t itch at all, I practically forgot they were there. They only itch if I decide to irritate them myself. They are slightly sensitive to the touch, but not badly.

I don’t think my house has ever had bed bugs before, and nothing has changed relative to people coming in or out, or moving anything in or out.

Any ideas?

If nothing has been moved around or changed then it’s likely they’re not bed bug bites.Typically you’ll get them all the time if they’re bed bugs.
If you have pets they could be flea bites.
Or they could be mosquito bites.
Or maybe you were rolling around in poison ivy or oak leaves.
    Or maybe it’s shingles.
    Mmmm.. Shingles.

They probably are. When I had bedbugs the bite wasn’t terribly itchy, and slightly painful/tender. I mostly noticed them when I was hot from a shower.

They seem to only bite on the stomach, breasts and thighs, never on the ankles like a mosquito. They bit me in several places every 5-6 nights or so, and never anyone else in the family. Apparently this is typical. It took me several years to get rid of them. They only bit me in summer. I have no idea where my bedbugs came from, but they are sweeping the world.

One common thing that happens with bedbug bites, is that they will be in a line.—-the bites will be lined up in a row.
the reason for this is, the bedbug needs blood to survive–so it will find a place on your body–then, if you roll over or move, it will move down a little ways and start on another bite.
I have seen pictures of this and read it in at least 3 places–as we thought we had them!.
They come out at night-mostly near dawn-. You will find telltale marks in and on your mattress–especially along the seams of the mattress.
It is good to wash your sheets and bedding once a week.
    Good luck.

I is not shingles, well I don’t think it is. I had them, Only a few years ago. It was a Big Huge rash that spread across my stomach. It would have burned you, and hurts. Not mosquito bits, once you start itching, usually it becomes really itchy. Maybe flea if you have pets. I’m not sure about Bed-bugs. If you don’t know or if it doesn’t get better, go to the doctor’s or ask a friend/ read a book. Maybe Pictures would help.

If you just got bit one time, you probably don’t have bed bugs. If you get bit every night while you sleep, then it is definitely bed bugs.
